The Ice Works, Worcester
Client: JJS Developments
This historic building has stood derelict on the edge of Worcester for many years, and we’re pleased to be working with a local development company giving it a new lease of life.
Built as a water mill in the 1800’s and then turned into an Ice Manufactory in the 1900’s, the six-storey building is being renovated into an apartment complex and two additional blocks are being built at the rear. Scaffolding to three sides of the Ice Works were completed using TG20:13 compliance sheet. The front elevation needed full design to incorporate the debris protection fan and the cantilevered access to the original lifting house. This required beams bolted directly to the front of the building and tie-tested so that we could build the upper section that extends out over the roadway.
